Head Coach David Raven Sets Out the Work for This Term

As the new term begins Head Coach, David Raven, reflects on the challenge of helping his players find their fitness again after the 4 week holiday break.

The EduKick Football Soccer Academy students will soon need to be on top form as they face a tough term ahead. After a relatively easy start, our teams are facing tougher challenges as they progress through the league. This stretches the resolve and determination of the young players as they begin to face much more challenging games. However, Coach David is upbeat about the squad and believes that they have made a positive start to the new term. This term is packed with football opportunity as the players get the chance to represent the school every Saturday, as well as play in the EduKick Football Soccer Academy team in the League each Wednesday.

It’s a good term this one, it’s an exciting one and we’re working well.

David is going to be working hard on rebuilding the players’ fitness this term and then revisiting the first principles as he gets the students back to maintaining their shape when playing.

David highlights those who look ahead. Glenn gets a special mention as he’s consistently been scoring goals last term, 13 or 14 at the last count. Leo Buckle and Max Moater are also playing well at present. Younger players like Shiva, McDonald and James Prescott have also impressed. David also gives praise to Shaun and Koki, younger players who have recently stepped up to the older category.

Saranga’s U.S. University Soccer Success

Saranga joined the EduKick Football Soccer Academy in 2017, moving from his home country of India, to pursue his dream. He was always one of the most committed players, working hard every day to develop his skills. Saranga always clearly understood that his coaches’ feedback, plus what he learned from his teammates, was making him a better player.

During his time at EduKick Football Soccer Academy Saranga won a number of awards for his performance and effort. He was awarded  “Player of the Month” as well as an end of season award. In short, he was a key member of the squad for two years.

Whilst with EduKick Football Soccer Academy, Saranga attended a trial day with “Soccer Assist”. EduKick Football Soccer Academy partnered with “Soccer Assist” to give the players opportunities to study and play soccer for a US college or university whilst receiving a scholarship. This particularly suited Saranga, being both a good  A-level student and committed to his football. Ater working with Tyrelle from “Soccer Assist” he soon received a number of offers from good US universities.

By now, Saranga has just finished his first semester with Monroe College and has had a really successful start to his time in the USA. With 36 players on the roster at the college, Saranga has featured in the first team and was one of the 24 squad members selected to travel to Tyler in Texas for the NJCAA National Championship Tournament. With a fantastic unbeaten record, he and his team brought home the title for Monroe College for the first time in the team’s history, a fantastic achievement.

Mick Brennan, EduKick Football Soccer Academy Director of football said:

This is just a fantastic success story for Saranga. He was always one of the stand out players on the EduKick Football Soccer Academy Ellesmere programme with his determination, drive and commitment. He was one of those players that just knew he could achieve and as a coach you just want to help a player with drive and attitude like that as much as you can. I’m  delighted for him with the progress that Saranga has made.

Edukick Player Studies A levels

Daniel is a 16-year-old football student from Nigeria who studies for his A levels at Abbey College Manchester. Every morning and every afternoon he trains hard with EduKick Football Soccer Academy Football Academy, and has really taken ownership of the routine since enrollment. Daniel has enjoyed learning from coaches and has watched as his fitness and game improve! Daniel believes that the coaches have helped his most football technique: close control, close passing and long passing.

Excited about his training sessions, Daniel has said that the sessions with Darren Fletcher (Ex Manchester United midfielder), at an MUFC training center have helped him greatly:

The experience has been amazing. Going to the training center where people that have trained there have gone on to go pro. And I had the privilege to train there. So, that’s amazing.

Daniel is doing a great job in his first year, and we can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store for him.

Want to take your football game to the next level?

Edukick Invests In GPS Performance Tracker

We are excited to announce the arrival of our new performance monitoring vests! This will allow our coaches to track the performance of individual players: total distance, top speed, power plays and sprint distance. Our coaches will see the key aspects of our players’ fitness and track their progress as they improve.

The players wear a GPS tracker, held in place in a lightweight tech vest, which then monitors various data fields whilst tracking the player’s exact location. All the tracking data is then uploaded and assimilated online then fed back to the Coach’s app for interpretation and analysis.

Heat maps show where our players have spent the most time on the pitch or training field or where they’ve hit their highest speeds, giving our coaches better tactical insights. Also, players will now receive personalized sports science and nutrition advice, after a match or training session, to help them improve between games. Coach Chris Honor has instigated individual fitness testing for the squad and is already seeing considerable improvements from the players as a result.

Coach Chris is very excited about the arrival of the PLAYR system and says the following:

The performance system will provide the EduKick Football Soccer Academy coaching team with invaluable information on each individual player, such as how much ground they cover in a match and heart rate monitoring. We can then use this information to analyze the player’s performance and provide them with feedback. This will also help us to implement specialist fitness programming for each individual player. Also, it will help us to identify trends across the player positions which will be vital in helping us understand the player better, so that we can get the very best out each one.

This innovation is just the start of Coach Chris’ ambitious plans for the new term / courses starting on Monday 13th January 2020, as he helps the coaching team implement a fully comprehensive fitness improvement, monitoring and recording system.

Edukick Player Spotted by Rovers’ Scout

EduKick Football Soccer Academy player Aykhan was spotted by a Rovers’ scout at our recent showcase event on Monday 21, October. He’s now attending a trial at the English Championship club, Blackburn Rovers FC.

Director of Football, Mick Brennan, was very proud to take Aykhan up to the Rovers training ground at Brockhall Blackburn, especially because Mr. Brennan has ties with the club. Mick Brennan was Head of the Community at Blackburn Rovers FC, the club he and his dad have supported all their lives, prior to becoming a joint founder of EduKick Football Soccer Academy.

Getting this type of opportunity is great for our young players. It allows them to see first hand how they measure up against the best young football talents in the UK right now. Academy places are few and far between, young players work very hard to show they have got what it takes.” Said Brennan.

Aykhan is enrolled full-time at Abbey College Manchester, studying for his GCSEs. He has been living and studying in Manchester since September this year and trains 3 times per week with the EduKick Football Soccer Academy squad.

If you would like to join Aykhan and take your game to the next level whilst you complete your studies towards university entrance, take a look at more details of exactly how you can make that happen here.

Notable professionals such as Peter Schmeichel, Quinton Fortune, and Michael Carrick have previously been down for the training sessions to lead the coaching with the players.

Mick Brennan, Director of Football said:

“Once again this represents a fantastic opportunity for all the players on the EduKick Football Soccer Academy programme. The relationship that we enjoy with the coach education department at the PFA is marvellous. Just a few weeks ago we were able to go along to one of the Manchester United training facilities to take part in a programme, and tomorrow we will have some top players from the English Championship at our training ground to lead the session.”

Edukick Players Play a Friendly Match against Bolton Wanderers FC

The EduKick Football Soccer Academy 1st Team played a friendly fixture against a local Bolton Wanderers FC youth side. We were 3-0 up by the half time whistle, yet this competitive game ended 3-3.

One thing that stood out was the performance given by EduKick Football Soccer Academy player, Aykhan. He certainly attracted all the right kind of attention with this beautifully taken strike that gave the BWFC keeper no chance at all. We wish Aykhan all the very best and hope that he can maintain this excellent form throughout the season.

Match Report:

EduKick Football Soccer Academy started the game well. However, against the run of play, Bolton sneaked the early lead with a well-worked goal on the counter-attack. Just before halftime from a corner, Jonathan delivered a great ball to Aykhan at the back post who converted it with a well-placed header. After a pep-talk at halftime, we started the second half as the better team and from a moment of brilliance from Aykhan from the left-wing, he cut inside and hit a forty-yard strike into the far top corner.

Potentially goal of the season. A few minutes after that, Jonathan scored from a second phase of play from a corner ball. Very comfortable in the game, EduKick Football Soccer Academy conceded a sloppy set-play from distance which gave Bolton the motivation to get back in the game. The final score was 3-3 and this is probably a fair result.

Man of the Match: Aykhan

Edukick Champions League Football at the Etihad Stadium

Last night the EduKick Football Soccer Academy visited the Eithad stadium to see Manchester City emphatically beat Italian Serie A team, Atalanta, 5-1. With a hat trick from Raheem Sterling in the first half, the match was quite an experience.

BTEC 1st year student player, Prakash, summed it up well when he said: “Two goals in ten minutes! That was good. And the atmosphere is something different. It feels unreal, you know.”

If you would like to study every morning and train at an FA affiliated football academy every afternoon, play competitive matches as a team and showcase your skills to professional football clubs of all levels, then apply today.
