What if I get chosen?
Any player whose details are requested by a pro or semi-professional club will be invited to a trial. You will be contacted as soon as possible by a member of our team. We will not share your personal details with anyone without first gaining express permission from the player (if over 18) or a parent for those under 18.
Should you be selected for a club trial then the club will contact you once your details have been shared, to arrange the details of your visit. In some cases, clubs may ask us to liaise with you in order to arrange such a visit.
What happens at a club trial?
A club trial can take many different formats and will vary from club to club. Some clubs will invite players to train with their youth academy. This allows them to observe how a player measures up against those players who have already been signed.
Some clubs have “shadow squads” or “development squads” which run alongside their academy cohort. These squads may act as feeders into the main academy squad. So players may be invited to these sessions, too.
In summary, a club trial gives a player a more extended opportunity to showcase their skill directly to a club’s coaching personnel, on their premises to see if the opinion of the scout concurs with that of the club.
Some clubs track players during the season that they have spotted at a Showcase event. If they feel a player is worth watching, but haven’t got any suitable vacancies or feel that the player is currently not at a high enough level, they may send regional scouts to watch them in a competitive match-play situation. Should such a trial be requested, we would inform the player and/or his parents or guardians.
Daily Training & Competitive Games
Training sessions are focused and tailored by UEFA Qualified Coaches to develop each player individually and all players collectively as a team, technically and tactically targeting competitive fixtures. In the initial weeks of a program, players will be tested and given feedback on areas for improvement. These tests will be repeated with targets set for each player on a regular basis.
Players will be involved in football-specific fitness work to improve stamina, strength and core stability, which are vital attributes in the professional game. Players will learn about their own responsibilities in play, along with the team-work shape and different systems of play.
Games will be against Professional Academies and scheduled based upon the EduKick MANCHESTER squad’s ability level to allow them to put into practice what they have worked on during the daily training sessions. These games are also an opportunity for our players to showcase their talent to the opponent coaches or watching scouts.
Past examples of teams played against are Preston North End, Accrington Stanley, Bury FC, Manchester United Foundation team, Manchester City Shadow squad, Curzon Ashton, Barrow FC, Altringham FC, along with many colleges and visiting touring teams in the Manchester area.
Working with the Professional Football Association (PFA), we are involved in regular sessions where coaches and players from clubs use our players to coach and learn more about the game. These sessions are a great opportunity for our players to not only attend some of the best training facilities in the world, but to get seen, coached, and to interact with some of the top coaches and players in the UK.
In recent seasons our players have been lucky enough to be coached by Michael Carrick current England & Manchester United star, ex Newcastle & Blackburn player Darren Peacock, ex Blackpool & Leicester player Gary Taylor-Fletcher and ex QPR, West Ham, Manchester City and England international star Trevor Sinclair as well as ex-players Nicky Hunt, Danny Pugh, Paul Rahubka, Freddy Kanuote, and Michael Raynes.
