After linking with the Professional Football Association recently, EduKick Manchester has become an integral part of their Coach Education Program.
This program provides a quick and accessible way for these soccer professionals to get coaching experience, by offering them smart, capable students on whom to practice their coaching skills.
All the Edukick players, so long as they are fit and keep up their scores academically, will have the opportunity to meet and be coached by Michael Carrick, the England Star.

“What a great experience for the boys,” says Mick Brennan, director of Edukick Manchestere. “I bet most of their friends and family back home will be looking on with jealously at the chance these boys have to come, not only to one of the world’s best facilities, but be coached by a world class star.”

Our EduKick Manchester team will travel to the Carrington facilities, the training home of Manchester United Football Club, on a weekly basis so Michael can spend time instructing them.

During the first session last week, Michael and Merick, the head of Education at Manchester United, taught the EduKick players in two sessions. Michael was fantastic with the team, giving tips even after the session and just enjoying conversing with them.

“Hopefully, they can all take some real experience and knowledge from this, along with some great memories too. A massive ‘Thank You’ to Michael and all the team at the PFA for letting them have this chance. And well done to all the lads who were magnificent today here at Carrington. We look forward to the coming weeks,” offers Brennan.

It’s a credit to the student-players’ attitudes, effort and commitment that they were selected by the PFA and Michael to take part in this exciting program.

The Players

“Our current EduKick Spain family includes young players from around the globe who share a passion for football,” said Joey Bilotta, president of EduKick International. “Our player base is always so diverse, and we look forward to seeing what new countries will be represented this year.”
These young athletes range in age from 13-22 and come for more than just the great soccer training they get from the professional coaches at EduKick.
The international academy offers a learning environment where players not only work on developing their football talent under expert guidance, but also have the opportunity to complete their high school education, learn a new language and experience the culture in a city known for “Spanish football.”
One thing EduKick Madrid makes clear is that education is vital to the complete development of each student. The daily schedule is full of learning and activity.

The Schedule

The student-athletes start the day with football training. Four times a week players make the short walking distance to the training facilities to learn from Football Director, DR. Javier Mallo who puts the players through a strength and conditioning program. Afterward, Head Coach Javier Martin focuses on developing the essential technical and tactical skills required for top-level play.
“The will to win is important, but the will to prepare is vital,” Nacho Mallo, EduKick Madrid director, says regarding the intense practice regimen.
Evenings allow time for the players to join local football teams for their training sessions, giving them the opportunity to train and compete among Spanish football players 2-3 times per week.
In addition, each player receives a personal strength and conditioning fitness plan that compliments the training sessions, along with access to a fully-equipped gym, indoor swimming pool and spa.
Weekends are reserved for games where they may have the opportunity to play in the Madrid Municipality League or the Madrid Federated league based upon eligibility.
Edukick Spain offers two main studying options. Particpants who wish to continue their High School academics can enter our affiliate Spanish private school Colegio Alameda. An intensive Spanish language course at the highly-rated International House Madrid language institute is also available to all students.

The Opportunities

Madrid offers a great range of opportunities for players to discover. Art museums like “El Prado” or “Reina Sofia” (home of Picasso´s “El Guernica”), Royal Palaces and wonderful gardens, shopping avenues, markets, busy squares and above all, lots of football.
Each player who joins the Edukick Spain Year Long Program receives a professional football attendance pack where they get to watch live professional football.
This season players have already seen a home league game of the current Spanish League winner and Champions League finalist At. Madrid at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.
Particpants have also visited Valdebebas, Real Madrid training facilities, a home league game of Real Madrid Castilla (coached by Zinedine Zidane), a home La Liga game of Rayo Vallecano against Sevilla and the great Madrid derby at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium Real Madrid vs. At. Madrid.
“We’re proud that all of our student-players are able to get the feeling of professional football that Madrid represents so well,” EduKick’s president and CEO explains. “It’s part of what makes EduKick Madrid the football and academic experience of a lifetime.”

EduKick Students Meet League Founders

Soccer ClubsEdukick Manchester coaches, staff and student-players are delighted to form a new partnership with Accrington Stanley FC.
Through friend of EduKick International, Dave Bailey, Edukick Manchester has formed a great link to the professional football club, allowing Edukick Manchester student-players to get a fantastic view into the world of English football.
Accrington Stanley FC is one of the founding members of the football league!
Accrington Stanley
In fact, Accrington Stanley, one of only 12 clubs to form the football league, in 1888, has had a tough time throughout history. After a dramatic reformation of the club, in 1968, they established themselves firmly in English football.
From there they started to move up through the local non-league setup to the national non-league setup.
Then, in 2005, they won promotion back into the football league where they have been ever since. Now known as ‘The club that will never die’ Accrington Stanley is a traditional and local football club, but now with grand and glorious ideas to progress in football.
Accrington Stanley coaches will be delivering guest sessions to the Edukick Manchester players. Student-players will also have the opportunity for visits to the ground to watch the first team games, fantastic guest speakers from the club, and even more possibilities for those who show potential to train and trial with the club.
Manchester Accrington Square1
Throughout the season, Edukick Manchester will play the Accrington Stanley Academy teams too, which is a great opportunity for Head of Recruitment Dave Bailey to watch the Edukick players first hand.
Edukick & Accrington Stanley had their first success in the partnership, with Lawrence Hanna of Edukick Manchester being invited to Accrington to train with the Academy and showcase to the coaches what he can do. Hopefully later this month, Lawrence will spend time at Accrington to try to kick start his football career.

Real Life Stories

In this case, we brought in Keith Rees to give real life stories and advice to the players. Keith is the Development and Recruitment Officer as well as Goalkeeper for Everton FC. He is a major participant in the English football system.
Keith spent the whole day at the school and spoke for an hour with the players. He offered them them insight into the values and ethos of the academy at Everton FC. He unfolded for them how communication works between staff and players about expectations and performance.
Pictures of our fantastic 2014/2015 year.
Neil Garside, EduKick Manchester Head Coach/BTEC Tutor, spent the last few months on these topics, so it helped to cements these principles into the minds of the student players.

Future Opportunities

As with all the experts we bring in, Keith’s wealth of knowledge brought much to the table. Not only his knowledge of the game, but also what he’s learned from his role at Everton, as an FA assessor of coaches, as a coach mentor, having worked with many top level players and working with Team GB at the Olympics.
We look forward to seeing Keith again, in 2015, as he has invited us on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Academy.

Great Seats to the Big Game

Watch one of the best moments of the Burnley Football Club alongside EduKick Manchester students.
In the Premier League against Aston Villa, Danny Ings scored a late penalty for Burnley FC. One of the Edukick Manchester International Players caught it on camera. All the Edukick Manchester players were at Turf Moor as part of the ultimate soccer academy experience.
Prior to rooting for the Clarets, the student-players had trained heartily in anticipation of a session with the Burnley FC coaching staff. Outings like this are all part of the package at all EduKick International Academies.
